USB Camera Server
Last Updated: April 6, 2026
Grid Developer ("we," "our," or "us") operates the USB Camera Server Android application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App accesses device hardware, handles data, and protects your privacy. USB Camera Server is designed as a fully local tool — it does not transmit camera or audio data to any external server or cloud service. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.
The App requests android.permission.CAMERA to access video frames from a USB webcam connected to your Android device. This video data is captured solely for the purpose of serving a live stream to other devices on your local network. Camera data is never stored to disk, never uploaded to remote servers, and is discarded as soon as the stream is stopped or the App is closed.
If audio capture is supported and enabled by the user, the App may request android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO. Audio captured through this permission is streamed exclusively over the local network alongside the video feed. Like camera data, audio is never stored persistently and is never transmitted to external servers. You can disable audio capture at any time from within the App settings or by revoking the permission from your device.
The App uses the following network-related permissions solely to enable local streaming and network discovery:
INTERNETRequired to open an HTTP server socket on the device so other LAN devices can connect and view the stream via a browser or media client.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATEUsed to check whether a network connection is active before starting the streaming server.ACCESS_WIFI_STATEUsed to retrieve the device's local IP address so it can be displayed in the App for easy access by other devices on the same Wi-Fi network.None of these permissions are used to track your location, monitor browsing activity, or communicate with services outside your local network.
The App does not collect:
All data accessed by the App is used exclusively to provide its core function: streaming a USB camera feed to devices on the same local network. Specifically:
No data is processed for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose beyond real-time local streaming.
USB Camera Server operates entirely within your private local area network (LAN). The streaming server is bound to your device's local IP address and is only accessible to other devices connected to the same Wi-Fi or network segment.
✓Video and audio streams are served only within your local network.
✓No outbound connections are made to external servers or the public internet.
✓No camera or audio data is uploaded to any cloud service or third-party server.
✓The streaming server stops automatically when the App is closed or the stream is stopped by the user.
You are responsible for the security of your own local network. We recommend using the App only on trusted, password-protected networks to prevent unauthorized devices from accessing the stream.
Because USB Camera Server operates locally and does not transmit data beyond your LAN, the primary security boundary is your local network. We have designed the App with the following principles:
We strongly recommend running the App on a secured, private Wi-Fi network. If you are concerned about unauthorized access, stop the stream from within the App or close the App entirely to shut down the server.
USB Camera Server does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud SDKs. The App does not include:
The only external interaction is through the Google Play Store, which governs app distribution. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy for information on how Google handles data related to app downloads and updates.
You have full control over all permissions and streaming activity:
USB Camera Server is not directed at children under the age of 13. The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since the App collects no personal data whatsoever, it poses no specific risk to children's privacy beyond access to the device camera and microphone, which are controlled by Android system permissions.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's features or applicable regulations. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the App's data practices, please contact us:
